Hey foodie, I’m so glad you’re here to make this delicious treat! Starbucks is one of my favorite places to eat because I love sweets! I respect that their ingredients are simple enough to read and appreciate the convenience of a quick sweet treat. However, I don’t think I’m alone when I say it would be nice to save some money lol. Whether you buy a drink or a small treat everyday, it really adds up! With this recipe you can make as many danishes as your heart desires, without breaking the bank.
Is this recipe really better than Starbucks cheese danish?
Yes! After experimenting with different ingredients, I am proud to say these taste like the real thing! Pssst… most of my online community think they’re better! The secret is in the simplicity. This recipe calls for just a few simple ingredients that balance each other out for that classic Starbucks taste we all love! Don’t believe me? Try them out!
“These taste just like the ones from Starbucks but these are more flaky!”

What you will need

Starting out, we use store bought puff pastry! Although danish dough is a completely different dough than puff pastry, this hack is just as good! It’s super soft on the inside and flaky on the outside. Plus, it saves us the labor of making danish dough from scratch. Next, to obtain that glossy golden brown color we need egg wash. Super simple just crack an egg then add water! For the cream cheese filling, we need softened full fat cream cheese, granulated sugar, flavorings, and salt. This mixture comes together in minutes and it’s ready to bake!

Can I store these for later?
Absolutely! Be sure to cool them completely before wrapping them individually with plastic wrap. Then place them in an airtight container and into the refrigerator for up to one week or in the freezer for up to three months.
To reheat:
From frozen– First allow them to come to room temperature. Then pop them in the air fryer (on bake mode) at 325 degrees for 3 minutes or in the oven at 400 degrees for 4 minutes.
From the refrigerator– Pop them straight into the air fryer (on bake mode) at 325 degrees for 4 minutes or in the oven at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
Can these be customized with different flavors?
These taste amazing with almost any fruit filling, just add a little on top of the cream cheese filling! My personal favorite is guava paste! They taste similar to Starbucks’ sugar plum cheese danish. Lots of people enjoy them with raspberry, strawberry, and even blackberry fillings. The list goes on!

Notes
- Be sure to carefully read each ingredient and measurement. I have seen people mistake the lemon juice for lemon extract.
- Puff pastry is used instead of danish dough, making this recipe even more foolproof and easier!
